Well, if your have trouble opening your high-hat at certain points then that just sounds like you have not got your coordination down for that beat yet. If thats the case, then just keep practicing and eventually you should get your coordination down.

That first beat is used in the song Euology by Tool. It comes in at about 6:34 into the song!
