i found using a click to do the basic 1234 very useful to get the first technique
Well, if your have trouble opening your high-hat at certain points then that just sounds like you have not got your coordination down for that beat yet. If thats the case, then just keep practicing and eventually you should get your coordination down.

Also: I’m having trouble opening the high-hat on every second hit with the first beat. I can play it without opening the hats but it sounds much better with it opening on every second. Any help?
That first beat is used in the song Euology by Tool. It comes in at about 6:34 into the song!

What kind of hi-hats are those?
sounds kinda similar to tool’s laterlus song bit
The main is a 14″ Brady and the aux is a 10″ Black Panther by Mapex
